What is a Charter School?
According to the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, "Charter schools are unique public schools that are allowed the freedom to be more innovative while being held accountable for advancing student achievement. Charter schools foster a partnership between parents, teachers, and students. They create an environment in which parents can be more involved, teachers are allowed to innovate, and students are provided the structure they need to learn. Because they are public schools, they are:
- Open to all children;
- Do not charge tuition; and
- Do not have special entrance requirements.

What is the admissions process for the Charter School?
The Sussex County Charter for Technology welcomes you to our community. We hope to make the enrollment process as easy as possible for both students and parents, and are available to answer all of your questions.
Seats for the current school year (2015-2016) are currently full, but we will accept applications for the waiting lists throughout the year (applications in Spanish can be found here). Please note that if your child is currently on a waiting list, you will need to still re-apply for the following year's admissions.
The online application for next year (2016-2017) can be found here (paper applications in Spanish can be found here).
As per our charter, seats are available first to students with siblings currently enrolled in the Charter School. After that, seats are offered to any Sparta residents, and all other available seats go into a lottery drawing. When seats are filled, the lottery determines the order of the waiting list for grades 6, 7, and 8. Applications received after the deadline are placed in the order we receive them following the lottery drawing.
